Newsletter – August 2007

EDITORIAL
Our role in this industry...

Our Newsletter is a reminder to our textile clientele of our mission and objectives ; this quarterly publication summarizes our latest activities and involvement, and attempts to better define our initiatives and role within this industry.

In this publication, you will notice that our human resources service is, as always, at the forefront of our activities. The business services (especially when these have been proven and are professional) catch our attention and we even help make the promotion. New technology also captivates us and our faithful readers. Finally, we wouldn't leave out the social aspect of our business.

Job openings.... on the upswing!

Since June 12, 9 new positions were vacant, we can even say 12 positions because at certain places, there was more than one opening. This is good news for our industry which seems to be waking from a long sleep. So, since that date, we have worked relentlessly and today, almost all the openings are nearing completion. Quick link to our "Job Openings" .

We are being told that the Chinese products are not as interesting and that our Canadian manufacturers are playing it safe by filling production positions here in Canada.

New technology – Made of paper or textile...

Translated from an article in La Presse – Tuesday August 14 2007 (Agence France-Presse)

Washington – American researchers have developed a new energy storage device which can be powered by human sweat or blood, looks like a simple sheet of black paper, and its properties offer an important potential of applications according to a study published yesterday.

Using nanotechnology, these scientists produced a composite molecular structure made of 90% cellulose and 10% of carbon nanotubes acting as electrodes and allowing the storage device to conduct electricity.

This new battery is lightweight, ultra thin and completely flexible, explained the inventors at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, oldest technology university in the U.S.A.

Other than the fact that it can be printed like paper, it can function as both a high-energy battery and a high-powered capacitor, which are generally separate components in most electrical systems.
