The situation of our industry all around the world and here in Canada is very tense and once again, in last Friday's "La Presse", in the "Affaires" section, an article reminds us of this. It is entitled: "Les Américains et les Européens menacent de prendre des sanctions commerciales sévères contre la Chine qui tarde à jouer franc-jeu" – (Americans and Europeans threaten to take severe commercial sanctions against China for not being fairplay). One should not forget that China now has the means to counterattack, which could tip over the whole economy.

In Canada, we are more moderate and for example we are talking about a study on the Commercial Legislation and a project moving along very well on "Outward Processing".

In spite of this irritating economic situation, many other subjects drive our daily activities at Groupe Textile. Here then are other topics which may interest you!

• Let's try to forget, even though this is practically impossible, the shutdowns and considerable job losses and turn to tomorrow and new textiles. There will ALWAYS be a need for a basic textile structure to move towards more sophisticated markets. To this end, Groupe Textile has been identifying the best textile specialists around the world to attract them to Canada. For many years now, we have filled our banks with textile specialists from over 40 countries and now is the time to offer them jobs. Are you the manufacturer who will benefit from this new expertise to improve your R & D and develop your markets?
  
  
• To liven up your reading, we took the pulse of young textile specialists, 1997 to 2000 graduates, and prepared a short report.
  
  
• China even sends us four new industries who have set up their business here in Quebec in textiles. We welcome them and wish them good luck!
  
  
• We are presently updating our website to make it more modern and user-friendly. It should be on line in its new version around March 31st, 2006.
  
  
• Hot topic – you must read our specialist in this matter, Mr. Guy Déziel, and help the society ensure the permanence of our ressources by taking interest in Sustainable Development.
