China... more orders
China - latest news... A textile delegation from Canada is preparing to visit Shanghaï from August 26th to September 3rd 2004, for the CINTE TechTextil China fair. The primary objective of these 25 Canadian companies is first and foremost to sell their products, visit textile industries and make numerous business contacts. We, at Groupe Textile, had published last February a long article on China and we feel that instead of fearing China, we must consider this as a natural market expansion. We have therefore decided to join in this project with the C.T.T. Group and take advantage, like you, of this structured organization which is partly subsidized by the Federal and Provincial governments. All aboard! It's still time to register! Details : 1- CINTE Letter of Invitation / 2- Reservation form

TEXTILE ENGINEERS AND PROJECT MANAGERS
Regularly, we evaluate at Groupe Textile the employment trends in our sector. In 2003, we had completed a research, an internal study which went back to the first years of the Textile Institute in 1945. We had also made findings on textile employment by comparing year 1970 to years 2002-2003. For the last two years, we have seen major changes and noted the following:
- Companies are more and more changing and those who are succeeding are the ones hiring textile engineers and project managers who are innovating with new products by researching and developing.
- The younger textile graduates are too few and not yet ready to take over from the older grads who are retiring. So companies are hiring non textile specialists to fill, for example, Human Resources and Sales & Marketing positions. When we need textile engineers however, we often need to go abroad to identify the researchers. It is therefore our responsibility at Groupe Textile to take an interest in all textile specialists abroad to validate their interest in working here in Quebec or in Canada, and we are succeeding quite well.
